NIA court issues arrest warrants against four

FARIDKOT : A special court of the National Investigat­ion Agency (NIA), Mohali, issued “non-bailable” arrest warrants against Gurjant Singh Khalsa, alias Gurjant Singh Australia, Harmeet Singh, Gurjinder Singh and Gursharanb­ir Singh in the target killing cases. The warrants were issued on Tuesday and next date of hearing has been fixed for August 29.

In its chargeshee­t, the NIA said, Harmeet is suspected to be in Pakistan, Gurjinder in Italy, Gursharanb­ir in the UK and Gurjant in Australia.

Gurjant is active on the social media and is running campaign against Punjabi singers.He has been radicalisi­ng people against Punjabi singers through his videos, said the NIA.

On May 11, 2018, Punjab Police have arrested two radicals, Amar Singh and Sandeep Singh, who were backed by Khalistani handlers arrested in Kotkapura and also recovered two pistols and 40 live cartridges from their possession.

“During interrogat­ion, the accused disclosed that they were in touch with Gurjant, based in Australia, who has been indulging in a “radicalisa­tion” drive on Facebook. Gurjant also runs an organisati­on called Internatio­nal Sikh Federation,” the police had said.

Police had also claimed that Gurjant was involved in financing a Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) terror module that carried out eight target attacks/killings in Punjab between January 2016 and October 2017.

The NIA filed chargeshee­t against 15 people including UK citizen Jagtar Singh, alias Jaggi Johal, Hardeep Singh Shera, Ramandeep Singh and others under Sections 120-B , 302 , 34, 379 , 416 of the IPC, the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 and the Arms Act, 1959.
