ROHTAK: Haryana finance minister Captain Abhimanyu on Friday alleged that there is a gang of liars, headed by former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, operating in Haryana for the sole purpose of spreading false information about the government.

Addressing a press conference at his office here, Abhimanyu ‘strongly rejected’ Hooda’s allegations that Haryana’s debts have doubled under the BJP regime without any major development in the state.

Abhimanyu said their government had taken several financial reforms and Hooda was free to raise this question in assembly session to get a detailed response.

“Hooda says we have not done any work. Yes, we have not done anything he considers as work. We have not put out notices for acquiring farmers’ land. We have not forced poor farmers to sell their land to our friends and family members by using our influence in the government. We have no interest in doing such works that Hooda used to do,” Abhimanyu said.

He dared the former CM to take part in a debate with him in Vidhan Sabha or any state university. “Hooda claims to have made Haryana number 1 during his time. He should rather speak to intellectuals to know if anyone backs his claims. In our government, we have brought Haryana to rank one in north India

in ease of doing business. We make statements with proofs, unlike Hooda who speaks irresponsibly to gain mileage,” the FM said.

Regarding the All India Jat Arakshan Sangharsh Samiti’s (AIJASS) threat to disrupt his programmes in nine districts of the state, Abhimanyu, said “Everyone in the country has a right to do what they want under the ambit of law.”

Remembering former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Abhimanyu said he had special love for Haryana and had visited the Rohtak Lok Sabha constituency twice within a year. He termed the opposition’s allegations of BJP playing politics over immersion of Vajpayee’s ashes as baseless and irresponsible.
