GURUGRAM: A 23-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at a private guest house in Sector 14 on Friday. No suicide note was recovered from the spot, the police said. The deceased was identified as Yash Kumar, a resident of Farrukhnagar. As per police, Kumar had booked a room in Block C, Old DLF Colony, Sector 14, on Thursday, and checked into the guest house at around 8.50 pm.

The police received a call on Friday afternoon from the guest house informing them about the incident.

A police team from Sector 14 went to Farrukhnagar and informed the family members, who told them that Kumar had been depressed after losing his job three months ago. He worked in a facility management services company at Kapashera in Delhi, the police said.

“The staff told us that since the time he checked into the guest house, none of them had seen him step out of his room. As such, they grew suspicious,” Sumit Kuhar, deputy commissioner of police (crime), said.

Guest house manager told the police that when the victim did not come down till 12:30 pm, he went to see him. Repeated knocks at his door failed to get any response.

He then asked the staff to use the master key and check inside. That was when they found his body hanging from the ceiling.

The police said they have registered a case under Section 174 (police to inquire and report on suicide) of the CrPC.

THE VICTIM, A RESIDENT OF FARRUKHNAGAR, HAD LOST HIS JOB THREE MONTHS BACK AND WAS ALLEGEDLY DEPRESSED. THE POLICE HAVE NOT RECOVERED ANY SUICIDE NOTE
