ROHTAK : The medical investigation of the five kids who alleged sodomy at the hands of seniors at a gurukul in Rohtak indicated sexual assault, while one more victim came forward on Monday and shared similar experience of abuse.

The victims, students of Classes 5 and 6, had alleged they were being sodomised by their seniors in connivance with the staff of the gurukul for the past several months.

The matter came to fore when one of the victims complained about the abuse to his parents who had visited him here on Sunday on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Soon after hearing her son’s complaint, the mother of the victim created a hue and cry in the school, when four more kids approached her and narrated similar ordeal.

As police registered an FIR and sent the victims for medical examination, doctors said that sodomy was indicated in two of the victims who were assaulted recently. “Sodomy was indicated in two of the five victims who were sexually assaulted only recently. The other three could have been assaulted some time back and thus more examination is required. Though in their case too, we cannot rule it out. Samples have been sent to Madhuban forensic lab for confirmation,” said a surgeon at civil hospital, who was part of the team of doctors that conducted the examination.

Meanwhile, the Rohtak police on Monday arrested one of the staff members of the gurukul and detained five juveniles accused of sodomy.

The arrested staff member has been identified as Sachin, a hostel warden who was approached by the students with a complaint but he tried to suppress their voice, the police said.

A high-voltage drama was witnessed on Monday when parents of the victims gathered outside the gurukul and raised slogans against the authorities. They tried to enter the school but were stopped by guards who used force against them. The parents alleged the school was protecting the accused.

The gurukul head, Acharya Hari Dutt, said the matter had come to their knowledge some time ago. “We had conducted an internal investigation, but could not confirm the allegations at that time. Now the police are handling the case and the gurukul is cooperating in all possible ways,” he said.
