ROHTAK: A 19-year-old girl who was allegedly gangraped by three men 10 days ago committed suicide on Monday by hanging herself from the ceiling of her house.

The victim left a suicide note in which she blamed sadar police station SHO and a DSP of inaction on her complaint. She also cited in her suicide note social stigma on her as well as her family members due to rape.

The police said the victim was sleeping along with her parents on Sunday night. However, when they woke up in the morning, they found her hanging from the ceiling. The suicide note was found nearby. The parents of the victim blamed the SHO and the DSP of inaction and alleged they “forced” their daughter into committing suicide.

Bhiwani SP Ganga Ram Punia said they were investigating the gangrape case and will also probe the allegations against the policemen.

He said the girl in her suicide note alleged she was abducted by three men, one of them her neighbour, on August 16 and was taken to a secluded spot on the outskirts of the village and gangraped.

The police sent the body of the victim for postmortem. Her family, however, did not accept the body for cremation as they demanded arrest of the SHO and the DSP.
