Gang war leaves three dead at Goindwal Sahib

TARNTARAN: In a shootout between two group of gangsters, three people, including a gangster, were killed at Goindwal Sahib town, 20 km from here, on Monday evening.The deceased have been identified as gangster Sahilpreet, Gurjant Singh aka Janta of Dhunda village and Arshdeep Singh of Khadoor Sahib.

Senior superinten­dent of police (SSP) Darshan Singh Mann said, “As per preliminar­y investigat­ions, a minor tussle between cousins Gurlal Singh and Sahil of Hansawala village in a gym was the reason behind the clash.” As per police, Sahilpreet was one of the aides of gangster Sukha Kahlwan.

“The aides of the duo gathered in the town and opened fire at each other,” he said.An eyewitness, Parminder Singh of Goindwal Sahib, said, “The gunfight continued for 10 minutes. Both the groups fired around 100 shots during the clash.”

As soon as the police reached the spot, the accused fled from the spot leaving behind two cars and some weapons, said Parminder.

A police team led by DSP Goindwal Sahib, Hardev Singh, seized the vehicles and arms.

“Gurlal and Sahil are gangsters and are wanted in many criminal cases. Sahil is also wanted in a murder case,” said a senior police official seeking anonymity. “One of the deceased, Gurjant Singh aka Janta, was also wanted in several criminal cases,” said the SSP

“We have registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC and 25-27-54-59 of the Arms Act against Gurlal, Sahil and their aides at Goindwal Sahib police station,” he said.
