BENGALURU: Usman Khawaja struck an unbeaten century as Australia A beat India B by five wickets (DLS) in a rain-affected match at Alur to reach the final of the Quadrangul­ar Series on Monday. Austraila A will face India B again on Wednesday in the final at M Chinnaswam­y Stadium. Australia A chased down the truncated target of 247 in 40 overs with the help of Khawaja’s 101*, which included ten boundaries and a six. He was supported by Jack Wildermuth, who scored a quickfire 62. Earlier, India B posted 276/6, riding on Manish Pandey’s unbeaten century. He hit an unbeaten 117, studded with seven boundaries and three sixes.

Bhuvneshwa­r declared fit, to play for India A BENGALURU: The BCCI on Monday declared pacer Bhuvneshwa­r Kumar fit and said he will be a part of India A squad in the ongoing quadrangul­ar series. Bhuvi had aggravated his lower back injury while playing the third India-England ODI last month. He was subsequent­ly ruled out of the ongoing Test series and had to undergo recovery training at the National Cricket Academy. He will play against South Africa A on August 29. India A are already out of the series as they could manage just nine points. They lost to South Africa A by four wickets on Monday.

No pacer will go past Anderson, says McGrath LONDON: James Anderson will not be caught once the England cricketer becomes the most prolific fast bowler in Test history, says Australia’s current recordhold­er Glenn McGrath. Anderson has 557 wickets, six fewer than the retired McGrath ahead of the fourth Test against India, which starts on Thursday. “I have a lot of respect for Jimmy. I believe once he goes past me he will never be beaten,” McGrath said.

B’desh cricketer accused of dowry harassment DHAKA : Bangladesh player Mosaddek Hossain Saikat’s wife has accused him of driving her out of their home and torturing her over dowry, a media report said. Mosaddek, 22, who married his cousin Sharmin Samira Usha six years ago, has been included in Bangladesh squad for the Asia Cup to be held from Sept. 13-28 in the UAE.
