INSO demands fair probe into student leader’s death

-

HISAR: Alleging police inaction in the death of a student leader, members of Indian National Students’ Organisation (INSO) staged a protest outside the Hisar deputy commissioner’s (DC) office on Wednesday.

The protesters blocked the entrance of the DC’s office and sought a probe into the case where an INSO student leader, Sunam Nain, was found dead in his car near a restaurant at Hisar’s Agroha on August 25.

The protesters also handed over a memorandum to the superintendent of police (SP) Shiv Charan, demanding speedy inquiry into the matter.

“Nain had gone to Agroha with a girl for some work. But, he did not return home that evening and we were later informed about his death by the police,” INSO district president Silk Poonia said.

“We suspect that either the girl or her family is behind Nain’s murder,” he added.

Poonia alleged that despite a formal complaint lodged by the victim’s family, the police did not take a “strict” action and failed to make arrests.

The police, however, are suspecting it to be a case of suicide.

“To ascertain the actual cause of death, we have sent Nain’s viscera samples to the forensic lab in Madhuban. The forensic reports will decide our further course of action,” SP Shiv Charan said.
