Man found hanging from tree in Nabha, probe on

NABHA: Mystery shrouds the death of a 48-year-old man who was found hanging from a roadside tree near Nabha pig farm here on Sunday afternoon. The victim, Sanjay Kumar of New Basti Colony, worked as financial investor. Sanjay was found hanging from the tree with a piece of cloth even as his feet were touching the ground and froth was coming out of his mouth. After spotting the body, passersby called the police and the body was sent for postmortem. The police are taking it as a case of suicide, but investigations are on.

NABHA : Mystery shrouds the death of a 48-year-old man who was found hanging from a roadside tree near Nabha pig farm here on Sunday afternoon.

Sanjay was found hanging from the tree with a piece of cloth even as his feet were touching the ground and froth was coming out of his mouth.

After spotting the body, passersby called the police and the body was sent for postmortem.

The police are taking it as a case of suicide, but investigations are on.

Nabha station house officer (SHO) Sukhraj Singh said the victim’s family told them that Sanjay had gone to the market and they have no clue what happened.

The SHO said the police were waiting for the postmortem report to determine the cause and time of death.

The deceased is survived by a son, a daughter and wife. The family members could not be contacted for comments.

Police sources said Sanjay received multiple calls from someone he owed money to. Sanjay apparently had promised to return the money on Sunday, but he couldn’t arrange the money, it seems.

Meanwhile, a neighbour of the victim on condition of anonymity said Sanjay suffered big losses in a chit fund scheme and owed money to a number of people.
