‘Eveteasing’: Girl’s kin thrash man to death

DHARAMSHALA: A 40-year-old man was beaten to death for “sexually harassing” a 15-year-old girl at a village in Nurpur sub-division of Kangra district on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Niranjan Singh. The girl alleged that Niranjan harassed her while she was on her way to school.

DHARAMSHALA : A 40-year-old “mentally unstable” man was beaten to death for allegedly harassing a 15-year-old girl sexually at a village in Nurpur sub-division of Kangra district on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Niranjan Singh.

The girl alleged that Niranjan harassed her while she was on her way to school.

After the girl narrated the incident to her parents, her kin launched a hunt and found the man sitting at a shop.

The enraged kin took him away from the shop and thrashed him with sticks and rods.

Niranjan was then taken to the girl’s school by her parents, where his condition deteriorated.

Niranjan’s brother Mohinder Singh was informed about the incident by a passerby, who rushed to the school and called an ambulance.

However, Niranjan succumbed to injuries on the way to Nurpur civil hospital.

Nurpur DSP Sahil Arora said police have booked four members of the girl’s family, including two women, on murder charges.

Those booked were identified as Jagdish Chand, Rakesh Kumar, Lakshmi Devi and Anju Bala. HTC
