Bhagwant’s greed for CM post cost party dear: Khaira

MOGA : For the first time, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rebel MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira publicly launched a fierce attack at Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann, saying “his (Mann’s) greed for chief minister’s chair cost dear to the party” in the 2017 Punjab assembly polls. Khaira was addressing volunteers at a convention in Moga here on Sunday.

Khaira said AAP leadership in New Delhi made a “fake promise” to Bhagwant Mann during closeddoor meetings that if the party wins 100 seats in the polls then he will be made the chief minister of Punjab. “Bhagwant Mann lost mind and took the party on the wrong path,” Kahira said.

“Mann claimed that he cemented the party’s base in Punjab and attended more than hundred rallies. What about Moga people who gave a lead of more than 1 lakh votes to party MP from Faridkot, Sadhu Singh, in the Lok Sabha polls when there was no party structure in Punjab?” said Khaira.

Khaira and six other rebel MLAs were present at the rally while Jaitu MLA Baldev Singh missed it as he is out of the country. The AAP rebels gave an ultimatum of 40 days to the Congress government to take appropriate action in the sacrilege and firing incidents on the basis of findings of the Ranjit Singh panel report.

AAP MLA from Kharar, Kanwar Sandhu, said they will soon announce organisational structure of the state body. “AAP volunteers must question national convenor Arvind Kejriwal whether he thought about the feelings of thousands of volunteers before offering an unconditional apology to Bikram Singh Majithia,” Sandhu said.

TURBAN COLOUR

The organisers presented red turbans to leaders, on which, Khaira said “our opponents will now declare us comrades’.
