CRIME AGAINST WOMEN ON THE RISE IN STATE, SAYS CM

CHANDIGARH : There has been an increase in incidents of crime against women in Haryana.

As compared to 8,126 cases registered from September 2014 till August 2015, As many as 10,325 cases were registered from September 2017 till now, said a statement laid in the Haryana assembly by chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday.

Responding to an un-starred question by Congress MLA, Jagbir Singh Malik, the chief minister in a statement said that first informatio­n reports (FIRs) registered by the police showed a rising trend of crime against women during April 2015 to June 2018.

The chief minister also said the crime rate did not decrease in districts where women police stations were opened.

In response to a question by BJP MLA from Gurgaon, Umesh Aggarwal, the chief minister said a proposal to extend metro rail to Old Gurgaon was under considerat­ion.

Khattar said that a techno feasibilit­y study of the proposed metro extension from HUDA city centre in Gurgaon to railway station was done by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporatio­n. M/s RITES Limited has been selected as a consultant for preparatio­n of a detailed project report.

“With the June 2018 decision to further extend the metro up to RRTS station in Dundahera on the Old Delhi road, the detailed project report is likely to be submitted. HTC
