Teen girl’s father booked for murder
ON SUNDAY, A POLICE TEAM REACHED THE VILLAGE AND PULLED OUT THE HALFBURNT BODY OF THE GIRL FROM THE FUNERAL PYRE, SUSPECTING HONOUR KILLING
HISAR : The Haryana Police on Monday booked the father of the 16-year-old girl — an alleged victim of honour killing — of a village under the Meham sub-division of Rohtak district on Sunday. The police booked the father under Section 302 (murder) and started further investigation into the matter, Meham police told mediapersons.
On Sunday, a team led by deputy superintendent of police (DSP), Mahem, reached the village and pulled out the halfburnt body of the Class 11 girl from the funeral pyre, suspecting honour killing after the police control room received a call from a villager that a family of an about 16-year-old girl took her body to the crematorium, without informing anyone in the village.
Suspecting foul play behind her death, the Meham police reached the spot with forensic experts and fire was extinguished and experts pulled out the half-burnt body from the pyre.
The experts took samples from the body, which were sent to a forensic lab to know the exact cause of death of the victim.
SHO Kuldeep Singh, Meham police station, said that family members of the victim told the police that she died after complaining of discomfort in her chest and stomach.
A board of doctors carried out the postmortem and sent samples to Madhuban Lab to know the reason behind her death.
“We have registered a case of murder against Prahlad Singh, father of the victim, under Section 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention). No arrest has been made so far,” the SHO added.
