Week on, cops fail to make headway
JALANDHAR : District police are still groping in the dark in absence of any clue on the four ‘very low intensity’ bombs at the Maqsudan police station last Friday.
The Punjab Police have also called the forensic experts of national security guards (NSG) and national investigation agency (NIA) but there is no lead in the case.
“Police are investigating the case from different angles,” deputy commissioner police (DCP ) Gumeet Singh said.
On Friday, the forensic team of Punjab Police continued their investigation and tried to get scattered explosive pieces in the police station.
A senior police official, on request of anonymity, said police have rounded up few people in this case but they have not made any arrests yet.
The DCP said investigation is going on but no arrests have been made so far.
Four low-intensity blasts took place at the Maqsudan police station — the main gate, inside the complex and outside the munshi room — at around 7.45pm, injuring the station house officer and a constable. The Punjab Police has not ruled out the possibility of ‘terror link’.
The blasts have left the state government and the police worried and a high alert has been sounded throughout the state.
Earlier, director general of police Suresh Arora ruled out the involvement of the Bhindranwale Tigers Force after it took responsibility of the attack. However, police are also examining the angle of a radical attack.
