I only know of a gangster named ‘Kuddu’ who has a large number of criminal cases against him. I broke this gangster’s nexus in Malerkotla and am not surprised at false claims. MOHAMMAD MUSTAFA , DGP, Special Task Force

CHANDIGARH : The Punjab and Haryana High Court has asked the superintendent of Sangrur district jail to provide necessary protection to a prisoner, Abdul Rashid alias Ghuddu, of Malerkotla.

The HC passed the order on September 21 while hearing a petition by Ghuddu wherein he had claimed a threat to his life from Special Task Force (STF) chief DGP Mohammad Mustafa and his minister wife Razia Sultana. He had also accused the couple of “implicating him in false cases by abusing power”.

Ghuddu in his petition said that out of 13 FIRs against him, he has been acquitted/discharged/convicted in seven cases, granted bail in five, and is in custody for only one case.

Alleging threat from the DGP Mustafa who also happens to be the DGP Punjab Human Rights Commission, Ghuddu has placed on record an audio CD and transcript of the purported conversation between the DGP and a woman, in which the male voice can be heard saying that he will ensure that Ghuddu doesn’t come out of jail.

Ghuddu said he is fearing danger to his life and implication in false cases, urging the court to ensure that he is not transferred to any other jail.

DGP Mustafa said that he only knew a gangster named ‘Kuddu’ who has a large number of criminal cases against him. “This is a war against crime and a deeper analysis will expose the nexus between these gangsters, politicians and the police,” said the DGP, adding that he broke this gangster’s nexus in Malerkotla and is not at all surprised over the false claims. He also maintained that his wife Razia Sultana doesn’t even know about this gangster. The next hearing is on October 26.
