CHANDIGARH: Cracking the whip on workers who had indulged in hooting against speakers during the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) rally in Gohana on October 7, party supremo Om Prakash Chautala on Thursday dissolved the party’s youth and student wings.

“Both wings of the party were found to be lacking in discipline and commitment to the ideals of the party. While the youth wing failed to play its role during the October-7 Gohana rally, the Indian National Students Organisation (INSO) was found indulging in blatant anti-party activities, an INLD release said on Thursday.

“It is also accused of entering into a conspiracy with anti-party forces to disrupt the Gohana rally and smear the name of INLD,” it added.

RIFT COMES TO FORE

The dissolution of the two wings is being seen as a stern message from Chautala to party workers, especially those associated with INSO, of which Digvijay is the national president. He is the younger son of Ajay who along with Chautala is in jail in JBT recruitment case since 2013.

Digvijay and his elder brother Dushyant, INLD MP from Hisar, are vying with Chautala’s younger son Abhay, for more voice and space in the party.

Abhay refuted report on fissures in the family, saying,

“Some people may try to create differences in the party or family, but there are none.” He added, “INLD is not like Congress or BJP. In our party, indiscipline will not be tolerated.”

INLD youth wing president Ravinder Sangwan maintained that the wing members did not indulge in indiscipline.

INSO chief Digvijay Chautala, said the dissolution of the INSO cannot be done in this manner. “It is an independent body. INSO as an entity has nothing to do with the INLD directly though we belong to the same ideology. We are the supporters of the INLD but not an integral part of it.”

“As per the INSO constitution, it is either the INSO founder, Ajay Singh Chautala, or the INSO executive committee which has the authority to take any action,”’ Digvijay said when asked to explain his divergent view point.

Digvijay said he wanted to convey to INSO members that the dissolution of student outfit did not take place.
