THE COURT SENT HIM TO JUDICIAL CUSTODY FOR 14 DAYS DURING WHICH HE WILL BE LODGED AT BHONDSI JAIL

GURUGRAM : Days after the wife and son of an additional district and sessions judge was shot by the judge’s personal security officer (PSO), the statement of three people, including another personal security officer of the judge, was recorded on Thursday.

Constable Vinay Kumar, who was with the judge since May 2017, recorded his statement on Thursday. He has been made a witness as the accused PSO had called him after the shooting. Kumar said in his statement that he was on leave on the day of the incident and was shocked to hear about it.

Kumar’s statement was recorded under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) before civil judge(junior division), Kopal (who goes by first name only).

Sunil Sharma, Mahipal’s lawyer, said the police sought permission from the court to take digital and manual fingerprints of the accused. The prints were taken in the presence of the judge.

“When the judge asked him for his fingerprints he agreed and did not object to it. He will be produced in court on November 1 through video conferencing,” said Sharma.

Meanwhile, Mahipal was produced in the district court amid heavy security after his four-day remand ended on Thursday. The court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days during which he will be lodged at Bhondsi Jail.

On Wednesday, the police said Mahipal shot at the judge’s wife and son in a fit of rage and ruled out allegations of harassment by the judge’s family.
