HISAR: Amid intense infighting within the Chautala family and the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), Rajya Sabha member Subhash Chandra on Monday created a flutter in the political circles in Haryana by claiming that an INLD leader is in touch with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to explore the possibility of joining the saffron party.

The claim by Chandra, who was elected to the Upper House of Parliament with the support of the BJP, comes days after suspension of INLD’s Hisar MP Dushyant Chautala and INSO chief Digvijay Chautala by their grandfather and party supremo Om Prakash Chautala for their alleged anti-party activities. Addressing a press conference at his residence here, Chandra said, “A leader of INLD is in communication with the BJP to join the party.”

However, he refused to name the leader despite mediapersons’ repeated queries. “

Regarding the Agroha Mela on October 24, he said the organizing committee has decided not to call any political leader this time. He also said that he will impress upon the Centre to resumption of excavation work in Agroha to know more about our history.

“The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has carried out only 5% excavation in Agroha. I will urge the government to ensure that the ASI carries out the remaining 95% excavation work at the mounds located in Agroha town.”
