Shortly after taking over as interim CBI director, M Nageshwar Rao issued orders transferri­ng or giving additional charge to officials in the agency

Arun Kumar Sharma joint director (policy), transferre­d to the Multi-Disciplina­ry Monitoring Authority (MDMA) as joint director. Sharma was handling technical surveillan­ce and the anti-corruption unit. This unit was probing bribery case against Asthana. The MDMA, created to probe Rajiv Gandhi assassinat­ion case, is considered a “shunting post.” The charge of the policy division has been given to DIG Amit Kumar
