SUKHMEET SINGH, 24, ROWER, MANSA

He won gold in a rowing event in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. Jakarta was his first-ever internatio­nal outing. Relentless practice is the key to his success. He is also very inspired by the movie Bhag Milkha Bhag.

AJEETESH SANDHU, 29, GOLFER, CHANDIGARH

He won the Asian Tour event Yeangder Tournament Players Championsh­ip at Taipei last year, followed by a win in the Japanese Challenge tour.

LT PAYAL GUPTA, 28, NAVAL OFFICER, DEHRADUN

She was part of the all-woman crew of INS Tarini, the first Asian team to circumnavi­gate the globe in 254 days. She was awarded the Nau Sena gallantry medal on August 15 .

ASHIMA RAIZADA, 23, ARTIST, MOHALI

This engineer by training has a won a bouquet of awards which include the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi Award 2017, All India Academy of Fine Arts Award 2017, Raghu Rai Scholarshi­p in Multimedia Arts by Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi 2017.

SIDDHARTH KAUL, 28, BOWLER, CHANDIGARH

After Kapil Dev, Yograj Singh and Chetan Sharma, Siddharth Kaul is the fourth pacer from Chandigarh to play for India in the T20 and ODI format. He made his T20 debut against Ireland and his ODI debut came against England in June 2018.

SEERAT VIRDI, 27, DESIGNER, LUDHIANA

Her first two sustainabl­e designs got her selected to the Lakme Fashion Week XIMG Reliance incubator program in India. She is the first Indian designer to represent India at the Redress Design Award Platform.

RUPINDER PAL SINGH, 27, HOCKEY PLAYER, FARIDKOT

He was part of the Indian men’s hockey team that won the bronze at the 2018 Jakarta Games.

MANISHA, 15, FOOTBALL PLAYER, SADALPUR, HISAR, HARYANA

She was part of the India under-16 Football team that won the SAFF Cup held in Bhutan in August this year. She was also part of the U-16 AFC qualifiers tournament held in Mongolia.

ELIZA BANSAL, 17, AIIMS TOPPER, LEHRAGAGA, SANGRUR

She stood first in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences MBBS entrance examinatio­n, and also grabbed the top rank in the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsa- han Yojana Exam (KVPY). She also got a good score in the National Eligibilit­y cum Entrance Test.

FAISAL ALI DAR, 27, COACH, BANDIPORA, J&K

Faisal Ali Dar, the trainer of wunderkids Tajamul Islam and Hashim Mansoor, runs the most celebrated sports academy in one of the terror-affected areas of Kashmir.

ANJU, 15, FOOTBALLER, SADALPUR (HISAR)

She was part of the India under-16 Football team that won the SAFF U-15 Cup held in Bhutan in August this year. She was also part of the U-16 AFC qualifiers tournament held in Mongolia. She is a striker for her team. KANUPRIYA, 22, PANJAB UNIVERSITY STUDENT LEADER, PATTI, TARN TARAN She is the first woman president of the PU Students Council, a position that has always been held by a man.

ANMOL SHER SINGH BEDI, 24, IFS OFFICER, AMRITSAR

He secured All India rank 2 (topper among men), in his first attempt at the civil service examinatio­ns held by UPSC (2016-2017).

RAMPAL CHAHAR, 29, PARA ATHLETE, SONEPAT

Rampal won silver in the high jump event at the 2018 Jakarta Para Asian Games even though he does not have a right hand. He was also part of the Indian contingent for the 2016 Rio Paralympic­s.

JAGDISH RAWAT, 26 SKIER, CHAMOLI, UTTARAKHAN­D

A cross-country skier, this armyman represente­d India in the 2018 Winter Olympics.

MANJIT CHAHAL, 29, ATHLETE, NARWANA, HARYANA

Manjit clinched the gold in the 800m event at the 2018 Jakarta Games, his first Asian Games. He trains seven to eight hours every day.

NAVNEET KAUR, 22, HOCKEY PLAYER, SHAHABAD, HARYANA

She was part of the Indian women hockey team that won silver in the 2018 Jakarta Games. Navneet says she is indebted to my father for her success.

HARMANJEET SINGH, 27, POET, MANSA

He has written an anthology called Rani Tatt with poems on Punjab and Punjabiyat. It received such a rousing response from critics and readers alike that Harmanjeet was awarded Yuva Sahitya Akademi Award in 2017.

RITU DEVI, 14, FOOOTBALL PLAYER, SADALPUR, HISAR

MANISH NARWAL, 16, PARA SHOOTER, FARIDABAD

Manish Narwal is a para-shooter from Delhi-NCR’s Ballabhgar­h. He is unable to lift his right hand since birth. He clinched three golds and a bronze at the World Shooting Para-Sport in Chateaurou­x in France.

The tall, burly players wowed everyone by bagging a gold at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games and set a new record in the shot put event.

UDHAYVEER SINGH, 16 SHOOTER, CHANDIGARH

He clinched gold in 25-metre pistol event in Junior World Championsh­ip held in South Korea in September.

TRISHNEET ARORA, 25, CYBER EXPERT, CHANDIGARH

He was all of 19 when he founded his own IT security company. Javier Gonzales, mayor of Santa Fe, New Mexico, proclaimed August 25, 2017 as Trishneet Arora Day.

RAHUL DHIMAN, 28, PRINTMAKER, AMBALA

He is a recipient of the ‘Sohan Qadari’ scholarshi­p sponsored by the Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi, and numerous other national and college-level awards. A much feted print-maker, he is known for his work on rails, inspired by his daily commute between Ambala and Chandigarh.

MANU BHAKER, 16, SHOOTER, JHAJJAR, HARYANA

She is the youngest Indian shooter to win gold at the ISSF World Cup held at Guadalajar­a this year. She won the top honours in the 10m air pistol event and also got a gold in the 10m air pistol mixed event in the same championsh­ip.

NARENDER GREWAL, 24 WUSHU CHAMP, HISAR

He won bronze in Wushu, also called Chinese Kungfu, in the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games. It was his second successive continenta­l games medal.

VIJAYVEER SINGH, 16, SHOOTER, CHANDIGARH

He clinched both individual and team gold in 25 metres standard pistol event in the Junior World Championsh­ip held in South Korea in September this year.

NISHA, 14, FOOTBALL PLAYER, SADALPUR, HISAR

She was part of the India Under-16 Football team that won the SAFF Cup held in Bhutan in August this year.

VARSHA, 15, FOOTBALL PLAYER, SADALPUR, HISAR

She was part of the India Under-16 Football team that won the South Asian Football Cup held in Bhutan in August this year.

KIRAN, 14, FOOTBALL PLAYER, SADALPUR, HISAR

She was part of the India Under-16 football team that won the South Asian Football Cup held in Bhutan in August this year. She was also part of the U-16 Asian Football Confederat­ion qualifiers tournament held in Mongolia.

AMIT BALYAN, 28, PARA ATHLETE, SONIPAT

This wheelchair-bound athlete won silver in the javelin throw event in the 2018 Jakarta Para Asian Games. He aims to clinch a gold medal in the 2020 Olympics.

PRANAV GOYAL, 17, JEE TOPPER, MOGA

He topped the country in the JEE advanced and main exam 2018. He was also the tricity topper in the Class XII CBSE boards.

ANJUM KHATTAK, 28, KAS OFFICER, SURANKOTE, POONCH

He topped the prestigiou­s Kashmir Administra­tive Services (KAS) exam 2014, becoming the first ever person from his district to achieve this feat.
