Will fulfil all promises made by us in election year, says Khattar
CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday said unlike the previous governments, the BJP government in the state would fulfil all promises made by in the election year.
Assembly elections are due in Haryana next year.
Addressing a press conference on completion of four years of his government, in Panchkula near here, Khattar said the BJP government had made only those announcements which could be fulfilled, unlike the previous Congress government which made big announcements in the poll year without any budget for the same.
“Out of the total 176 promises made in the election manifesto, 160 have been fulfilled while the remaining would be fulfilled soon,” he said adding that the monthly social security pension, including the old age allowance, would be enhanced from Rs 1,800 per month to Rs 2,000 from November 1.
On a query on recruitments, he said about 40,000 appointments had been made so far and as many would be made next year.
“During the previous governments, the people saw largescale corruption, nepotism and regionalism, while the BJP government brought about a change in the system by rising above the party lines,” he said.
To another query, he said corruption-free and transparent administration, recruitment on merit basis, online delivery of services and efficient financial management were the highlights of the four-year rule of his government.
“The fifth year being the poll year, the government will shift its gear from fourth to fifth to expedite the development process,” he said.
Stating that his government took several steps for the welfare of farmers, he said Haryana had also made sizeable progress in improving the gender ratio.
He also said his government brought about an increase in the amount of ex-gratia given to dependents of martyrs, besides giving jobs to 253 dependents during the past four years.
As compared to this, the previous Congress had given jobs to only 18 dependents of martyrs during its 10-year regime.
