Man killed missing bizman, chopped body, says police

GURUGRAM: Harnek Singh Dhillon, 76, who was arrested for his wife’s murder at their house in DLF City Phase 2 last week, has confessed to killing a flour mill owner and disposing of his body in Punjab after chopping it, police said on Thursday. The victim, 51-year-old Jaskaran Singh, had been missing since October 14 and was last seen at Dhillon’s residence.

Police said that Jaskaran visited him that day to demand ₹40 lakh that he had given to Dhillon to invest in gold business. An altercatio­n followed and Dhillon allegedly attacked Jaskaran with a sharp weapon. “Dhillon confessed that he had murdered Jaskaran on the second floor of his house on October 14 with the help of an accomplice. Dhillon later chopped the body into disposed it of,” said Karan Goyal, assistant commission­er of police (DLF).

An investigat­or privy to the case said that the accused man cut his body into pieces later that night, wrapped it in polythene and stuffed it into a carton before driving away with it. Police said the body and the murder weapon was yet to be recovered. Dhillon was also yet to reveal the identity of his accomplice, police said.

Dhillon was arrested on Wednesday for the murder of his wife. The intriguing case had started off as a suicide attempt by an elderly couple. On Saturday, Dhillon had called up one of his relatives to inform that he and his wife, Gurmehar, 72, have attempted suicide. The relative alerted the police and when the cops reached Dhillon’s house, they found him unconsciou­s with his wrist slashed and a cut around his wife’s throat.
