Diwali fire: 75 scooters destroyed in HP’s Kangra

DHARAMSHAL­A : Around 75 twowheeler­s were gutted in a major fire that broke out in Honda company’s workshop at Ghurkadi village near Kangra town on Wednesday night.

The fire was caused by a cracker that burst on the roof of the workshop. Fire officer, Mani Ram said the fire spread quickly and engulfed the scooters parked on the roof. Two fire tenders and a team of nine firefighte­rs were rushed to the spot from the Kangra fire station.

“It took the team around three hours to douse the flames,” Mani Ram said, adding, that a loss of Rs 45 lakh was estimated so far.

He said that the firefighte­r managed to save 125 scooters parked in the workshop. No loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.

HOUSE GUTTED IN CHAMBA

A three-storey house was gutted at Sahnu locality near Chaurasi temple in Bharmour sub-division of Chamba district on Wednesday night.

Bharmour panchayat chief Sulochna Devi said the house caught fire due to firecracke­rs . Fire tenders were rushed to the spot and it took hours to douse the flames.

Additional district magistrate Prithi Pal Singh, “No loss of life was reported. The administra­tion has made arrangemen­ts for the affected family to stay.”

FOUR FIRE INCIDENTS ON DIWALI IN SHIMLA

Four incidents of fire took place in Shimla on Diwali. In one of the incidents, two shops caught fire near Labour bureau office. The other two fire incidents occurred near Hotel Holiday Home and Rahat Hotel. However, no loss of life was reported at both places in time.

The fourth incident took place on Thursday, where 12 rooms were gutted in a fire at a house in Bachadi’s Jangla under Rohru sub-division.The house was 250m away from the road and fire tenders failed to reach in time.

HOUSE ENGULFED IN FLAMES IN KULLU

A triple-storey house was gutted in fire on Wednesday after it caught fire from a lamp in Aayesha village in Kullu district. Fire tenders could not reach the spot as the villagers did not inform the fire department.
