CHANDIGARH: Terming his expulsion from Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) as illegal, the party MP from Hisar, Dushyant Chautala, said on Saturday that some ‘Jaichands’ (historical character associated with treachery) were trying to hijack the party by throwing him and others out by illegitimate means.

CHANDIGARH : Terming his expulsion from Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) as illegal, the party MP from Hisar, Dushyant Chautala, said on Saturday that some ‘Jaichands’ (historical character associated with treachery) were trying to hijack the party by throwing him and others out by illegitimate means.

Dushyant evaded volley of questions as to whom he was referring to as ‘Jaichands’, though it was apparent that it was used for Abhay Chautala, his uncle who is also the leader of opposition in the state assembly.

Jaichand is believed to have helped Muhammad Ghori defeat Prithviraj Chauhan in the second Battle of Tarain by divulging the king’s war plans to Ghori.

Coming out before the media here for the first time after his expulsion from the INLD on November 2, Dushyant’s replies made it amply clear that battle for supremacy in the family as well in the party was only getting fiercer with every passing day.

He, along with his younger brother Digvijay, who is the chief of INLD students’ wing Indian National Students’ Organisation (INSO), were expelled from Haryana’s principal opposition party – INLD, on charges of hooliganism during the 105th birth anniversary event of their great grandfather and former deputy Prime Minister late Devi Lal on October 7.

Continuing his tirade without naming anyone, he said, “Neither have I ever been informed nor called for any INLD meeting or discussion despite being a leader of the parliamentary party.”

When asked if his differences with Abhay Chautala were for the post of the chief minister, he replied in negative. He said he would abide by any instructions given to him by party supremo Om Prakash Chautala as always.

To the question pertaining to his expulsion, Dushyant categorically said that there was no consent of OP Chautala for action against them. “Firstly, there was no hooliganism at the said event. I myself raised slogans in praise of Devi Lalji, OP Chautalaji, Ajayji and even Abhayji,” he said and added that he and his brother were suspended vide a notice issued by INLD office secretary Nachhattar Singh. “Also, we got to know from the media that we have been expelled vide a party press note even as we have not got any official communication from the party to this date,” he said.

“I am an MP and only OP Chautala or the national executive committee can expel me,” Dushyant said and added that he had met his grandfather twice on the issue of party notice to him and that he (OP Chautala) had agreed with his point of view.

MET RAO, TALKED TO BADAL ON DIWALI

On the question whether he had met BJP MP and Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh and if former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal talked to him, he said the same was right though the context was Diwali festival. “It would be wrong to give a political colour to it,” he held.

SHOW OF STRENGTH

Besides, former INLD spokesperson KC Bangar and national vicepresident Phoolvati, sitting MLAs Prithi Singh, Anoop Dhanak, former MLAs Nishan Singh, Jagdish Nayar, Ramesh Khatak, Makhkan Singh and several leaders of party district units accompanied him at the press conference.
