Farmers who burn stubble may lose weapon license: Fatehabad DC

HISAR : Even after several attempts by the state government and local administration to control stubble burning in Haryana, there has been no substantial decline in the same, especially in Hisar region.

Taking a note of this, the Fatehabad deputy commissioner (DC) told mediapersons that farmers may lose their weapon license if any farmer was found burning paddy stubble in Fatehabad area.

The Hisar pollution control department so far noticed more than 2,500 active fire locations in the Hisar region, which includes districts Sirsa, Fatehabad and Hisar, from October 3 to November 9, and most of the cases of stubble burning are coming from Sirsa and Fatehabad districts.

DC JK Abhir said, “The total area of paddy in Fatehabad is 1.18 lakh hectare. Though the stubble burning cases reduced this time as comparared to last year, still the farmers are involved in the practice.”

“We have asked our teams to identify such farmers who are involved in burning stubble and to make a detail report of them. There are about 10,000 arms license in Fatehabad district. If the team identifies that the farmer who is having an arms license is involved in burning of stubble, the administration may consider to start process of cancelling the arms license and may also consider to not to renew the same,” the deputy commissioner said.
