IG denies any breakthrough, says investigations are on

JAMMU : Even as Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik on November 5 said that the killers of Bharatiya Janata Party leader Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar have been identified and they will be brought before the public soon, the police on Saturday said that investigations were on.
The Parihar brothers were shot dead from point blank on November 1 in Kishtwar town while they were returning home.
Some unconfirmed reports being attributed to unidentified sources claimed that the polic e were close to crack the case with the identification of two terrorists from Kulgam, who stayed in the house of an employee from the consumer affairs and public distribution department in the Kishtwar town.Inspector general of police SDS Jamwal said there was no breakthrough in the case of blind murders.
“I don’t know who has spread this news. As of now investigations are on,” he added.
Kishtwar district magistrate Angrez Singh Rana said that there was nothing as of now in the case. “The district SSP has not disclosed anything as of now. The town, however, remains under night curfew while day curfew has been lifted,” he added.
Governor Satya Pal Malik on November 5 had said the attackers involved in the cold-blooded murder stand identified and will be brought before the people soon.
Unconfirmed reports attributed to unidentified sources claimed that the police have solved the murders and arrested four persons, including two Kashmir based terrorists, a government employee and a friend of Anil Parihar.
On Friday, minister of state Jitendra Singh said the home ministry has made it clear that in case local representatives desire so, the probe into the killing of the senior BJP leader and his brother could be handed over to the National Investigation Agency.
