Two killed, three injured in separate road accidents

KARNAL : A 32-year-old man was crushed to death and his nineyear-old daughter sustained injuries after a truck hit their motorcycle near ITI Chowk on the National Highway 44 on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Sanjeev Kumar, 30, a resident of Murthal of Sonepat district.

His daughter, Lehar, was rushed to Karnal’s Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital and her condition was said to be stable.

Police said the accident took place when a truck, laden with cement bags, hit the motorcycle from its rear. Sanjeev died on the spot. Police said the driver of the truck managed to flee and they took the truck in its possession.

Model Town police station in-charge Satpal said the body was sent for postmortem and a case under Section 304 A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC has been registered against unknown truck driver.

In another incident, a man was killed and two others sustained serious injuries on Kaithal-Jind road on late Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Sukhdas, 28, of Chillar village of Charkhi Dadri district. As per informatio­n, all three were going in a car to appear in the Haryana Staff Selection Commission’s group D exam in Yamunanaga­r when the driver lost control and the car hit a tree on the roadside. Sukhdas died on the spot and the injured, Jasbir and Kala, of the same village were referred to PGIMER Chandigarh.
