Ajay’s supporters remove INLD flag, Abhay’s photo from office
Say they trusted Ajay’s leadership and had no faith in Abhay; believe the office deserved to be with Ajay
ROHTAK: Several supporters of the expelled INLD leader, Ajay Chautala, and his sons Dushyant and Digvijay on Tuesday created ruckus at the party’s Rohtak office after submitting mass resignation from the party.
The supporters said they trusted Ajay’s leadership and had no faith in Abhay, so they were resigning.
While doing so, they removed the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) flag and took out Abhay’s photo from the office, saying the office deserved to be with Ajay.
The INLD got divided after its supremo Om Prakash Chauatal expelled his elder son Ajay and his two sons, Dushyant and Digvijay, from the party citing indiscipline.
In a rally on November 17, Ajay announced that he will float a new party and contest the Lok Sabha and assembly elections next year.
After the announcement, there has been a fury of resignations from the INLD of people who want to side with Ajay and his sons.
In Jhajjar, INLD district president Rakesh Jakhar, youth wing president Upendra Kadiyan and councillor Praveen Rathee led hundreds of supporters to submit resignations from the INLD to join Ajay’s yet to be announced new party.
In Mewat, former state minister Mohammed Illyas resigned from the INLD to show solidarity with the ousted leaders.
Meanwhile, Ajay on Tuesday said his new party will contest next year’s assembly elections and the Lok Sabha polls from all 10 seats in the state.
He said the name of the new party will include ‘Jan Nayak’, an apparent reference to the Chautala brothers’ grandfather and former deputy prime minister Devi Lal.
“It’s time to follow the path shown by Chaudhary Devi Lal,” Ajay said.
He is undergoing a 10-year jail term with father Om Prakash Chautala since 2013 in a teachers’ recruitment scam.
He said the new party will hold a rally in Jind on December 9.
