NEW DELHI: A 40-year-old man was shot dead in Najafgarh on Tuesday night by three unidentified men, the police said.

According to the police, the man, who was shot twice on the face, also has several criminal cases registered against him in the city and that the killing is suspected to be fallout of personal enmity.

The role of the Manjeet Mahal gang behind the murder is also being looked into, the police maintained.

According to the police, around 6.30pm on Tuesday, three men, who had covered their faces, arrived on a motorcycle in Najafgarh’s Saini Mohalla where Roshal Lal Yadav, a resident of Dharmpura in Najafgarh, was sitting with four of his friends on the first floor of a building.

Witnesses and local residents told the police that while one of the men waited outside the building, two armed men went upstairs and called Roshan out.

“As soon as Roshan stepped out of the room, the two men shot at him. Two bullets hit his face and he collapsed. Seeing him fall, the duo rushed downstairs and fled on the motorcycle,” a police officer not authorised to speak to the media said.

Yadav’s friends then called up the police and rushed him to a hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

The police said that Yadav also has four criminal cases registered against him. adding that Yadav was in jail for his involvement in a murder case and was released on bail four months ago.

“He has three other criminals cases registered against him as well,” he said.
