High court summons ayurved varsity V-C
THE V-C HAS BEEN SUMMONED ON A PLEA OF A STUDENT WHO WAS DISQUALIFIED FROM THE EXAM FOLLOWING AN UNFAIR MEANS CASE
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court has summoned the vice-chancellor (V-C) of Guru Ravidas Ayurved University, Hoshiarpur, for Friday.
The V-C has been summoned on a plea of a student who was disqualified from the examination following an unfair means case.
The court of chief justice Krishna Murari and justice Arun Palli acted on the plea of Piyush Sharma, a third year Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery Course (BAMS) student, with Shiv Shakti Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Mansa.
The HC took serious note of the fact that even as the chits obtained from the student during the exam did not pertain to the subject in which he was appearing, still he was disqualified. The court observed as to who would compensate for the loss caused to the boy and summoned the V-C.
He was disqualified for the exam held in May/June 2017 and also barred from appearing in the examination held in December 2017. During the hearing on Wednesday, it came to light that the material recovered from the place where the student was sitting, did not pertain to the subject for which he was appearing. But still, he was disqualified by the committee constituted by the varsity to investigate the case.
