24 MANDI YOUTHS DUPED BY TRAVELLING AGENCY

MANDI : As many as 24 Mandi youths have been duped of lakhs of rupee by travelling agency over the promise of lucrative jobs abroad.

The issue came to light when 24 men went to New Delhi airport last week but found out on reaching that their tickets were bogus and visa they were provided was travelling visa and not the working visa.

Youths were told by the airport authoritie­s that travelling agency booked ticket in their names with the Gulf Airlines but payment was never done and tickets were never confirmed.

These youths were told by the travelling agency that their jobs have been finalised with Al-Hibba Constructi­on Company of the United Arab Emirates.

Youths, who belong to Sundernaga­r sub-division of district Mandi, informed police that a travelling agency with the name AH Global Career Makers, having its office at BSL Colony Sundernaga­r, asked them to pay ₹80,000 each for the procuremen­t of documents and visa for the United Arab Emirates but handed over bogus ticket and visa documents later on.

Mandi superinten­dent of police Gurdev Chand Sharma confirmed about the complaint of cheating against the company and said that police are initiating action.

Meanwhile, travelling agent and his wife are absconding and their three mobile numbers are switched off.
