FARIDKOT: With two Punjab cabinet ministers, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa along with Faridkot MLA, Kushaldeep Singh Dhillon, visiting Bargari on Sunday to make a formal announcement of government stand over three key demands of the Bargari ‘morcha’, parallel jathedar Dhian Singh Mand will take the final call on lifting the sit-in protest, that has been on for six months.

Two other MLAs and senior police officials are expected to be present in Bargari. The ‘Akhand Paath’ that started on Friday is expected to be over before noon, with clarity on the status of the ‘morcha’ emerging soon after. Police have deployed over 1,500 cops across Faridkot, especially around Bargari. Faridkot SSP Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu said, “Adequate force has been deployed to maintain peace and law and order.”

Panthic organisations supporting the Bargari ‘morcha’, however, professed to be clueless on the agreement or negotiations between Mand and state government. Mand has called a meeting of the executive committee of the ‘morcha’ on Sunday morning.

Before this, however, Mand has been reluctant to share any thoughts on what would be his final call in several rounds of meetings with panthic organisations. Representatives of panthic organisations claimed that even before his previous announcement

that the Bargari morcha would be permanent from June 1, no one had got wind of his intent, even on May 31. Now, there are demands to clear the air on the reported talks with the government. Parallel Damdama Sahib jathedar, Baljit Singh Daduwal has said, “We will decide the fate of the ‘morcha’ after the government opens its cards.”

However, SAD (Amritsar) general secretary, Jaskaran Singh Kahan Singh Wala has said, “We have firm belief in Mand. We will get success in the ‘morcha’ as we ran it without any personal interest.” “Let the government open its cards. Then we will react. Our fingers remain crossed,” said Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwarpal Singh. Another senior leader said if the government decision did not suit them, they would express their reservation before Mand.
