CHANDIGARH: The Centre on Wednesday gave Punjab police chief Suresh Arora an eightmonth extension in service, a third for the 1982-batch officer.
The announcement came on a day when the Supreme Court rejected pleas made by five states, including Punjab, seeking modification of its earlier order on the appointment of heads of the state police.

Now, the appointments committee of the cabinet has approved extension in service of Arora for an overall period of 12 months beyond the date of his superannuation scheduled earlier on September 30, 2018, in public interest, says the order of the personnel department.
Arora was appointed DGP by the then SAD-BJP government on October 2015, and his extension has stunned many aspirants, including DGP special
