Three youths killed as car falls into Bhakra Canal
BUNGA SAHIB (RUPNAGAR) : Three men, of Atari village in the district, were killed after the car in which they were on fell into the Bhakra Canal near Bunga Sahib village, about 27 km from the district headquarters, on Tuesday night. The victims — Jiwan Saini, 18, Pardeep Kumar, 20, and Amrik Singh, 19 — were returning to their homes in a Maruti 800 car (PB 65J-3706) after witnessing a wrestling event in Hardo Nimoh village. Saini, who owned the car, was driving.

When they took the road to the left bank of the canal near Bunga Sahib village, Saini lost control over the vehicle, which skidded and fell into the canal, witnesses claim. Police pressed divers into service to search for the car, which was recovered on Wednesday. The bodies of the trio were also recovered.
