Four killed in car-truck collision in Kurukshetra

KARNAL: Four persons were killed and one was critically injured when their car collided head-on with a truck near Ladwa town in Kurukshetra district on Sunday, police said.
The injured was rushed to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here as his condition was critical.
The accident took place when the Maruti Alto car, going from New Delhi to Yamunanagar, collided with the speeding dumper truck at Badshami village near Ladwa.
KARNAL: Four youths were killed and one was injured in a head-on collision between a car and a truck on the Yamunanagar road near Barshami village of Kurukshetra district on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as Rohit Kumar, a resident of Delhi; Yashpal Kumar alias Goga, Shiv Kumar alias Sunny and Alim Ahmad, driver of the vehicle, all residents of Old Hamida locality of Yamunanagar.
Yashpal was a private financier and Shiv Kumar worked with him. Alim was a taxi driver.
The police said the accident took place around 6am on Sunday when the victims were going in a car from Kurukshetra to Yamunanagar. A truck coming from the opposite direction collided with the car.
The victims were taken to the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital in Kurukshetra where Rohit, Yashpal and Shiv Kumar were declared brought dead.
Alim Ahmad and Sunil of Delhi were referred to the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh. Alim died on way to hospital and Sunil was admitted to the PGI, where his condition was said to be critical.
Soon after getting the information about the accident, the Kurukshetra police rushed to the spot and started the investigations.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck managed to flee the spot, leaving behind the vehicle. The truck, which was laden with construction material, was coming from Yamunanagar.
Talking to Hindustan Times, Ladwa police station in-charge Om Prakash said the police have taken the truck in its possession and an FIR has been registered against the unknown truck driver under Sections 279 and 304 A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
He said police teams have been formed to arrest the accused. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their family members after the postmortem.
