GURUGRAM: A student of class 12 was allegedly killed by his friends on Saturday over a dispute regarding payment of ₹500 which the deceased allegedly owed one of them. The deceased, Amrit alias Tiger, reported to be in his early 20s, was allegedly beaten up and strangulated to death by eight men. After killing him, the accused stuffed his shirt with stones and threw his body in a drain, police said.

While the body was found in a drain in Kankrola village near Sector 86 on Sunday morning, the police cracked the case after Amrit’s father reported him missing at 8.30am at Sector 10 A police station. Four men have been arrested in this regard.

According to the police, the incident took place on Saturday around 6.30pm when three of Amrit’s friends from Garhi village, identified as Punit, Aman and Sahil, came to his house in an autorickshaw and asked him to come along for an errand.

Amrit was taken near a school in Wazirpur village, where five others—Vishal, Archit, Jhota, Chaman and Gaurav—were also present, Sector 10A SHO inspector Sanjay Kumar said.

“They confronted Amrit over the non-payment of his debt (₹500) to one of the accused men. When Amrit refused to pay, he was beaten up and strangulated to death. After murdering him, the accused persons waited for some time before taking his body to a drain near Nawada village. They put some stones in his shirt so the body does not float to the surface and threw him in,” the

SHO said. Early Sunday morning, a passerby noticed a body floating in the drain near Kankrola village, which is at a distance of 3.5km from where the body was dumped, and reported it at Kherki Daula police station.

A case was registered under relevant sections of the IPC on Sunday; autopsy would be done on Monday.
