Man bludgeons father to death over property dispute

HISAR: A 75-year-old man was bludgeoned to death allegedly by his son and his family over a property dispute in Saharwa village of Hisar district, police said on Thursday.

The deceased is Satbir Singh. The police have taken custody of the body and sent it for postmortem examinatio­n at the general hospital in Hisar.

A murder case has been registered against seven people in the case. Police spokespers­on Vikas Kumar said, “As per victim’s wife Santro Devi, her son Shamsher, his wife Raj Bala, sons Pramod and Mohit and daughter Neeta, along with Dholu and Dewa Singh, killed her husband by beating him up with sticks late on Wednesday.”

He said the accused killed the victim as there was a rift between them over share of agricultur­al land. The police have launched investigat­ion into the case and efforts are on to arrest the absconding accused.

2 HELD FOR KILLING VEGETABLE VENDOR

KARNAL: A 48-year-old vegetable vendor was beaten to death in Nawada Aar village of Panipat district, police said on Thursday.

The police have arrested two persons in the case.

The deceased has been identified as Sunder Lal, a resident of

Jind district, who had been living in Nawada Aar.

In the complaint filed by Sunder’s brother Krishan Kumar, he said that on Tuesday evening, some people, including Sheela Ram and Sharwan Kumar, had engaged a scuffle with him. Krishan said he had told his brother about the same. “Around 8pm,

Sunder left the house, but his body was found in a drain on the outskirts of the village the next day,” he told the police, suggesting the role of Sheela and Sharwan in the murder.

Sanoli police station in-charge Surjit Singh said an FIR has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC.
