5 lakh students in J&K to be promoted without exams
JAMMU: In the wake of Covid-19 outbreak, five lakh students of classes one to nine and those in Class 11 in Jammu region will be promoted to the next class without any examination.
Director of school education Anuradha Gupta said, “Considering the prevailing situation, the J&K administration has taken this decision for summer zone students in Jammu division.The one-time exemption is being given in schools affiliated to J&K Board of School Education in Jammu division for 2020-21,” she said.
However, in case of Class 11 , if for any reason it is found that a student was not eligible for appearing in the higher secondary Part-1 examination but had been declared fit for promotion by the school, JKBOSE reserves the right to cancel his/her promotion without prior notice.
Meanwhile, some parents of those studying in CBSE affiliated schools on Tuesday appealed to the UT administration to devise a mechanism so that they could get easy access to high-speed internet.’
In Kashmir valley, the new academic session starts shortly after annual examination in November-December.
HP ALSO ORDERS MASS PROMOTION
SHIMLA: The state government has ordered to promote all students from classes 1 to 8 and of Class 11, in light of the coronavirus lockdown and curfew. The decision was taken in a meeting between education department officials and education minister Suresh Bhardwaj, under the chairmanship of chief minister Jai Ram Thakur here on Tuesday.
However, students of Class 10 and 12 will be promoted only after the declaration of board examination results.
