Resisting the lockdown blues from getting on their nerves, many actors are letting their creative juices flow and trying their hands at filmmaking and story writing. Channelising their inner artists, some of these celebs have already directed short films, while others seem busy working on scripts and screenplays.

With the pandemic on his mind, actor Tanuj Virwani has directed a short film titled Urban Incarceration. “Hopefully, I can enlighten my fans along with entertaining them. The message is simple - don’t let your paranoia get the better of you…,” he was quoted as saying, adding, “I didn’t write a script per se, I just storyboarded the entire film.”

Kolkata-based actor Aryann Bhowmik, who is a part of Ajay Devgn’s upcoming film Maidaan, has also received positive response for his short feature – Lockdown. “I had come back from South Africa on March 19 and was put into room quarantine. That’s when I thought of making this film. I edited it as well,” says Bhowmik.

Actor Shashank Vyas is also keeping busy with creative endeavors and has penned seven short stories and plans to direct them soon. “Most of my films would need a few people, so I’m waiting for things to get normal,” says Vyas.

Taking a cue from the current situation, actor couple Vatsal Sheth and Ishita Dutta have helmed a film titled Kahaa Toh Thaa. “This is a story about a couple, (and) how this lockdown affects their life… We shot it at our home,” says Sheth, adding that they will next make a music video.

Keeping up with the trend, actor Manisha Koirala, too, is busy working on a screenplay. She says, “I love writing and I’m spending my free time right now while writing a script, which I wish is made by a filmmaker.”

And this trend gies beyond actors. Singer Mika Singh recently shot the music video of his latest single using his phone. He shares, “We wanted to make this song, but given the current crisis, it was not possible to step out. Therefore, we did everything at home, right from directing the song to recording it.”
