Extending help in times of Covid-19
Various NGOs across DelhiNCR have joined hands to fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. And one among them is Naad Foundation — a Delhibased public charitable trust that aims to promote and preserve the cultural heritage of India and improve the lives of the underprivileged.
Nishi Singh, founder, Naad Foundation, says, “We have distributed more than three tonnes of rations in various parts of Delhi. We are also working to mitigate the difficulties faced by daily-wage workers.”
Though she enjoys music, visual arts and even poetry, it is social work that’s closest to Singh’s heart. “Helping others gives me lot of satisfaction and strength. I would like to request everyone to extend help to the less privileged in such difficult times. Together we can... and we will,” she adds.
Alongside dry rations, the foundation is also distributing masks and sanitisers. “We get random calls for help, and we don’t disappoint them. Last year, we adopted 40 kids from a government school in Rohini, and we are taking care of them as well,” says Singh.
Naad Foundation’s work has garnered much appreciation, including that on social media. Sunita Sehgal Kalra, a social media user, wrote on Facebook: “Thank you so much for reaching the unreachable areas and providing food to my staff members.”
Vikke Anand, another social media user lauded them for helping a destitute. “Thank you so much for helping the poor. I received a call from a poor lady who was starving due to the lockdown. She has received the rations,” he wrote.
