Online admissions for UG courses in colleges from today

CHANDIGARH : Online admissions to nearly 16,000 seats in various undergradu­ate courses at city’s 12 government and aided colleges will start on Monday. The last date for submission of applicatio­n forms is August 3.

Students can access the website – www.dhe.chd.gov.in – to apply for six government colleges and an equal number of private government-aided colleges. The entire admission process – from form submission to counsellin­g – will be online in view of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Apart from centralise­d admissions in various courses, for the first time, admissions to BA will also be online at respective college level.

HOW TO REGISTER

For government colleges, candidates need to fill the forms separately for each college after registerin­g on the DHE website. For private aided colleges, students need to register on the respective college’s website.

Scanned copies of Class 12 detailed marksheet and matriculat­ion certificat­ion with date of birth will be required along with the online applicatio­n.

Provisiona­l admission form can be downloaded after the display of allotment of college on August 3. Admission will be based on merit, calculated on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examinatio­n.

The six government colleges in the city are — Post Graduate Government College (PGGC, co-ed), Sector 11; Post Graduate

Government College for Girls (PGGCG), Sector 11; Regional Institute of English (RIE, co-ed), Sector 32; PGGCG, Sector 42; PGGC (co-ed), Sector 46; and Government College of Commerce and Business Administra­tion (co-ed), Sector 50.

Besides, there are six privately managed institutes — DAV College (co-ed), Sector 10; Sri Guru Gobind Singh College (co-ed), Sector 26; Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26; Goswami Ganesh Dutta SD College (co-ed), Sector 32; Mehr Chand Mahajan DAV College for Women, Sector 36; and Dev Samaj College for Women, Sector 45.

RESERVATIO­N

Of the total seats, 15% will be reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates, 7.5% for Scheduled Tribe and 2% for sportspers­ons.

Gradation certificat­e by the UT sports department is required for the last category and the applicant also needs to choose sports reservatio­n in the online admission form.
