17 khaps in Jind decide to boycott BJP-JJP leaders
Say will remove BJPJJP flags and hoist Tricolour and BKU flags at their houses
ROHTAK: Farmers associated with 17 khaps in Jind have decided to socially boycott the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) leaders, besides any independent legislator supporting them.
In a mahapanchayat held at the Khatkar toll plaza of Jind on Saturday, the khap leaders also decided to remove all BJPJJP party flags from their houses and hoist the Tricolour and BKU flag there.
Chairing the meeting, Satbir Pehalwan, head of the Khera Khap, said a ‘foot march’ towards Tikri border will be started on February 7.
“We have unanimously taken a decision to remove BJPJJP flags from our houses and install the Tricolour and BKU flags. The decision was taken to give a befitting reply to those people who were questioning our love for the National Flag,” he added.
The Sangwan Khap called a meeting in Dadri and announced to form a committee of sarpanches and ward members of their villages to send farmers’ to Delhi’s borders.
Independent MLA from Dadri, Sombir Sangwan, who heads the Sangwan Khap, said those holding high ranking posts in the BJP-JJP government in Haryana will also be boycotted. “We have also told wrestler Babita Phogat’s father Mahabir Singh to ask his daughter to refrain from abusing farmers. If she does not relent, the Khap will take strict action against their family,” he added.
The Sheoran Khap, one of most influential khaps in Bhiwani and Dadri, announced the social boycott of Haryana deputy CM Dushyant Chauatla, his mother and Bhadra MLA Naina Chautala and Bhiwani-Mahendergarh MP Dharambir Singh of the BJP in their villages.
‘Restore internet or we will block roads’
The representatives of 17 khaps and thousands of farmers, who attended the mahapanchayat in Jind, said they will block all the roads in the district, if the Internet services were not resumed by Saturday evening.
“The government has not only tried to suppress our voice by snapping the internet services but they have disrupted the studies of lakhs of Haryana students. The state government’s move to ban the internet services was undemocratic, especially when the exams of the students are round the corner,” the Khap leaders unanimously said.
