Maha plans probe into celebrity tweets over farmer protests

MUMBAI: The Maharashtr­a government will order a probe of tweets by Indian celebritie­s in response to social media posts by singer Rihanna and climate change activist Greta Thunberg in support of the farmers’ protest in Delhi to find out whether they had been pressured by the BJP to post pro-government messages, state home minister Anil Deshmukh said.

JAMMU: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday gunned down a Pakistani intruder along the internatio­nal border in Samba sector here.

A BSF spokesman said that at around 9.45am, the BSF troops observed a Pakistani intruder heading towards BS fence near border pillar number 64 in area of border outpost (BOP) Chak Faquira in Samba sector.

“Despite repeated warnings, the intruder kept moving under suspicious circumstan­ces and approached fencing in an aggressive manner and was fired upon by BSF troops,” he said. The dead body of the Pakistani intruder has been recovered. He had entered approximat­ely 40 metres inside the Indian territory.

Another Pakistani intruder was killed in the same area on November 23 last year. A tunnel around six to eight years old was also detected in this area recently. A search operation in the area is in progress.
