Capt not serious about farmers’ issues: Sisodia
AMRITSAR : Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Friday said that Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh is not serious about the farmers’ issues as “he only talks for his personal interests and benefits”.
Sisodia, who paid obeisance at the Golden Temple in Amritsar and other major places of worship on his visit to Punjab in the wake of the civic body polls, said the ‘annadatas’ (food givers) were agitating for several months but the Narendra Modiled government at the Centre does not seem serious about resolving their grievances.
“Even the Punjab government is not showing seriousness on the issue. Whenever talks are held with the Union government, Captain Amarinder only talks for his personal interests and benefits and comes back. The CM has an understanding with the BJP,” said the AAP leader while responding to a query during a press conference in Amritsar.
The farm laws were introduced by the central government for the benefit of a few corporate houses, he claimed.
Accompanied by AAP’s Punjab in-charge and Tilak Nagar (Delhi) MLA Jarnail Singh and party leader Inderbir Singh Nijjar among others, Sisodia said the AAP government in Delhi led by Arvind Kejriwal has done welfare works for the people which the Congress and the BJP could never imagine.
“The people in Delhi are getting better health facilities in government hospitals and better education in government schools as compared to private schools. They also get free electricity and round-the-clock water,” he said.
