Selja leads protest march against rising fuel, LPG prices
KARNAL: Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee president Kumari Selja on Thursday led a protest march in Karnal against rising prices of fuel and LPG and slammed the Union government for not resolving farmers’ issues.
Hundreds of Congress workers on bikes and bull carts and carrying LPG cylinders, participated in the ‘pad yatra’, which started from the Congress office at Lal Batti Chowk in Panipat and ended at the mini-secretariat. Addressing the protesters, Selja said that inflation is skyrocketing and prices of petrol, diesel and LPG are also continuously increasing.
She added that the crude oil prices are down in the international market and the prices are continuously increasing here as the government is profiteering.
“Crores have been earned by the government in the foam of taxes but they did not disclose where this hard-earned money of taxpayers went,” she said, adding that the government should disclose how much money was invested for the betterment of people.
The former Union minister said that during the UPA government’s tenure, prices of crude oil were double as compared to the current prices in the international market but the present government, instead of providing relief to people, is rubbing salt on their wounds by hiking fuel and LPG prices.“Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised ‘Acche Din’. Today, the PM is showing how that looks,” she added. She alleged the three “anti-agriculture black laws” were imposed to ruin the agricultural sector.
