KARNAL: Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the second wave of Covid-19 is the failure of BJP-led government at Centre and in Haryana.

“Over 5,700 people have lost their lives in state and there are over 6.28 lakh active patients but the BJP-JJP alliance in Haryana is missing in action,” Surjewala said after distributing PPE kits to staff of private hospitals in Kurukshetra.

“People in Haryana are suffering from acute shortage of hospital beds, oxygen, life-saving medicines and vaccine. The government is busy in turning the disaster into an opportunity for financial gains. Non-Covid patients are also facing problems in getting required medicines and hospital beds,” he claimed.

He slammed the government for not taking strict action as private hospitals are charging hefty amount from the patients and most of them are from other states admitted in Haryana hospitals. Surjewala raised questions over poor management of the Covid situation in country and slammed PM Modi for not taking required steps to contain the spread of the virus. He demanded white paper on the money collected and spent under the PM Cares Fund.

The former Congress MLA alleged that the bodies in the BJP-ruled states are being dumped into rivers but nobody is taking responsibility.

Surjewala announced that the local Congress unit will provide free oxygen support to serious patients in Kurukshetra.
