Capt govt befooling people on power tariff: AAP’s Chadha
: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Delhi and Punjab affairs co-incharge Raghav Chadha on Wednesday accused the Amarinder Singh government of trying to cheat the people of Punjab by announcing a minor adjustment in power tariffs.
Chadha said the chief minister had befooled the people earlier with his false promises of issuing a white paper and cancelling the faulty power purchase agreements, which were just tall claims. “People are now well aware of the intentions of the Congress government and will not fall for 25-50 paise adjustment in electricity tariff,” he said at a press conference here.
The AAP leader said the state government had hiked the electricity rates in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 and then announced a decrease of 50 paise in 2021, eight months ahead of the assembly elections.
“On one side, the Congress government has a ‘betrayal model’ with intention to fool the people on pennies and on the other side, there is the Arvind Kejriwal government’s ‘relief model’ in Delhi where electricity bills do not come,” he claimed.

promise of ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar’ by giving government jobs to Congress leaders’ sons and daughters, while the sons and daughters of the common people were being humiliated in the name of job fairs.
On the Congress infighting, he said that while the country’s 27 states were fighting the Covid pandemic, but in Punjab, Capt was busy in internal feud.
“The Congress in Punjab is on ventilator. Neither Remdesivir, nor plasma therapy or any vaccines can save it for revival. With its internal feud, Congress has already destroyed Punjab and is destroying itself as well,” he alleged, calling it a “party of disputes.”
