Centre using CBI, ED as ‘chowkidars’: Virbhadra
SHIMLA: Hitting out at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for registering a case against former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh said the Centre was using investigation agencies like CBI and ED as ‘chowkidars’.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 47th Foundation Day of Himachal Pradesh University, Singh said the Centre is using central agencies against Congress ministers and senior leaders.
“It has become a routine affair now. Congress leaders are on target,” he added.
The ED registered a case under Prevention of Money laundering Act (PMLA), taking note of an FIR lodged by Haryana state vigilance bureau, against Hooda in a land allotment case.
The ED is also probing the money laundering case against Virbhadra Singh and his family members. In the latest development, the Enforcement Directorate had summoned Pratibha Singh in connection with the PMLA against Virbhadra Singh. On July 20, she failed to turn up to join the investigation.
