80-year-old farmer ends life in Karnal

Unable to repay the loans, an elderly farmer has allegedly committed suicide. The deceased has been identified as 80-year-old, Gurdeep Singh, of Khedi Sarpali village, Asandh block of the district. Investigating officer ASI Gurdial Singh said that the family members of the deceased said that Gurdeep had taken a loan of `6 lakh from a bank two years ago, but failed to repay it.On Friday evening, he ended his life by consuming poison at his residence. The police said that a case has been registered under the section 174 of CRPC and have started the investigation.
