Punjab assembly session from September 8

CHANDIGARH: The 13th session of the 14th Punjab Vidhan Sabha will held from September 8-14. A decision to this effect was taken by the cabinet in a meeting chaired by the chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday.

A spokespers­on of the chief minister’s office said the session will commence with the obituary references.

Earlier, the session was to begin on September 5.

HARYANA MONSOON SESSION EXTENDED BY TWO DAYS

The monsoon session of the Haryana assembly, which was to conclude on Monday, has been extended by two days. The House will also meet on August 30 and 31 now.

The duration of the session has been extended on the recommenda­tion of the business advisory committee of the state assembly.

The decision was taken at a cabinet in a meeting chaired by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal here on Monday.

A spokespers­on of the chief minister’s office said the Vidhan Sabha session will commence on September 8 at 2 pm with the obituary references. The session will be adjourned sine die on September 14.

Earlier, the session was to begin on September 5, which, now, has been postponed by three days.

OTHER DECISIONS

Regularisa­tion of services of 198 service-providing trainers, employed under the centre of excellence scheme of the technical education and industrial training department, as craft instructor­s. This decision is expected to create about 4,000 additional seats in the industrial training institutes.

Creation of three posts of stenograph­er (senior scale) in lieu of three posts of senior assistant surrendere­d by the cooperatio­n department, by amending the Punjab cooperativ­e service rules. This will provide promotion avenues to steno-typists and stenograph­ers (junior scale).

Relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for sportspers­ons, who have got medals in internatio­nal events, and are willing to join Punjab Police. Currently, the upper age limit to join as deputy superinten­dent of police is 28 years and 25 years for sub-inspector and constable.

Fourteen posts to be filled in Punjab home guards and civil defence department in line with the policy of 13% reservatio­n to the ex-servicemen in government jobs. Of the 14 posts, 11 will be those of clerk, two of corpora instructor­s and one of Class 4.

Approval to disburse developmen­t grants to every panchayat as received from the 14th Finance Commission for undertakin­g their infrastruc­ture works in accordance with recommenda­tions of 4th Punjab Finance Commission.

Status of sub-tehsil to Jandiala Guru. Currently residents face a lot of inconvenie­nce as they have to travel to Amritsar for works related to revenue department.
